Vajikarana Vrishya Mantra

वाजीकरण वृष्य मन्त्र
Also known as: Aphrodisiac Mantras, Virility Therapy, Sexual Health
§ 01
Origin & Tradition

About this mantra

The Vajikarana Vrishya Mantra belongs to the Vajikarana branch of Ayurveda, which is the science of aphrodisiacs and reproductive health. The term 'Vajikarana' literally means 'making a horse' (vājī = horse, karaṇa = making), signifying the aim of bestowing the virility and stamina of a stallion. These mantras are traditionally employed to enhance virility, fertility, sexual health, and overall reproductive vitality. They are believed to activate the healing power of aphrodisiac herbs and practices, as described in the Charaka Samhita (Chikitsasthana, Vajikarana Adhyaya) and the Sushruta Samhita (Uttaratantra, Vajikarana). The mantras are often chanted during the preparation and administration of herbal formulations such as Ashwagandha, Shatavari, and Kapikacchu, which are recommended in these texts for rejuvenation of the reproductive system.

The deity associated with these mantras is Dhanvantari, the divine physician, and the Ashwini Kumaras, the twin gods of medicine and healing. According to the Mantra Mahodadhi, bija mantras like 'Om Vajikarana' are used to infuse the herbs with prana and divine energy. The phonetics of the mantra, particularly the 'vā' and 'jī' syllables, are said to stimulate the sacral chakra (Svadhisthana) and enhance vitality. Traditional purpose includes treatment of sexual dysfunction, improvement of semen quality, and overall rejuvenation of the reproductive organs. Recommended chanting context: ideally performed during the Shukla Paksha (waxing moon) in the morning, after bathing, facing east.

The count is typically 108 repetitions (one mala) using a crystal or rudraksha mala. The mantra can be chanted over herbal preparations or while meditating on the deities. Cautions: these mantras should be used under the guidance of a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner, as improper use may lead to imbalances. They are not recommended for individuals with high pitta or uncontrolled sexual urges. The Devi Mahatmya also references the power of mantras in healing, though not specifically for Vajikarana.

Overall, the Vajikarana Vrishya Mantra is a sacred tool for harnessing divine energy to support reproductive health and vitality.
