Mahavidya Kundalini Dhyana Mantra

महाविद्या कुण्डलिनी ध्यान मन्त्र
Also known as: Mahavidya Kundalini, Ten Goddesses, Shakti
§ 01
Origin & Tradition

About this mantra

The Mahavidya Kundalini Dhyana Mantra is a set of meditative verses used to invoke and realize the ten Mahavidyas as aspects of the primordial Kundalini Shakti. The ten Mahavidyas—Kali, Tara, Tripura Sundari, Bhuvaneshvari, Bhairavi, Chhinnamasta, Dhumavati, Bagalamukhi, Matangi, and Kamala—are described in tantric texts such as the *Mantra Mahodadhi* and *Shaktisangama Tantra* as the ten forms of the Divine Mother, each representing a different facet of cosmic energy and wisdom. The dhyana mantras focus on visualizing each goddess seated along the sushumna nadi, from muladhara to sahasrara, corresponding to the stages of Kundalini awakening.

The beej-aksharas (seed syllables) associated with each Mahavidya—such as 'Krim' for Kali, 'Hrim' for Bhuvaneshvari, 'Aim' for Matangi—are integral to the mantras, and their phonetics are believed to stimulate specific energy centers. According to the *Devi Mahatmya* and *Lalita Sahasranama*, the Mahavidyas are the supreme knowledge that leads to liberation (moksha). The traditional purpose of this dhyana mantra is to awaken the serpent power (Kundalini) through the grace of each goddess, enabling the practitioner to transcend the gunas and realize the non-dual consciousness.

It is chanted for spiritual evolution, removal of obstacles, and attainment of siddhis (supernatural powers). Recommended chanting context includes early morning or midnight, with a count of 108 repetitions per Mahavidya, using a rudraksha or sphatika mala. The ritual setting should be a clean, secluded space with an image or yantra of the Mahavidyas.

Cautions: This mantra is considered highly potent and should only be practiced under the guidance of a qualified guru, as improper invocation may cause energetic imbalances. It is not recommended for those without prior tantric initiation or stable mental discipline.
