Sri Vidya Sarva Rogahara Dhyana Mantra

श्री विद्या सर्व रोगहर ध्यान मन्त्र
Also known as: Sarva Rogahara, Remover of All Diseases, Seventh Avarana
§ 01
Origin & Tradition

About this mantra

The Sri Vidya Sarva Rogahara Dhyana Mantra is a meditative invocation associated with the seventh enclosure (āvaraṇa) of the Śrī Yantra, which is presided over by the goddess Sarva Rogahara, meaning 'the remover of all diseases.' This mantra is primarily found in the Śrī Vidyā tradition, as detailed in texts such as the *Vāmakeśvara Tantra* and the *Śrī Vidyā Ratna Sūtra*. The seventh enclosure is the outermost of the three circles of the Śrī Yantra, and its deities are eight in number, each representing a specific power of healing and protection. The beejākṣara (seed syllable) for this enclosure is 'Hum' (हूं), which is associated with the element of fire and the power of transformation, burning away impurities and diseases.

The mantra is chanted for the contemplation of the goddess's power that removes all physical, mental, and spiritual ailments, granting health, vitality, and grace. According to the *Mantra Mahodadhi*, the dhyāna (meditation) on this enclosure involves visualizing the goddess as radiant and compassionate, surrounded by healing rays. The traditional purpose of this mantra is to invoke the protective and curative energies of the Śrī Vidyā, particularly for those suffering from chronic or severe illnesses.

It is recommended to chant this mantra 108 times daily, preferably during the morning hours after bathing, in a clean and quiet space. The ritual setting often includes the use of a Śrī Yantra diagram, offerings of flowers and incense, and the recitation of the full Śrī Vidyā navāvaraṇa pūjā. Cautions include the need for proper initiation (dīkṣā) from a qualified guru, as the mantra is considered powerful and may cause adverse effects if chanted incorrectly or without proper reverence.

Additionally, practitioners should maintain a sattvic diet and lifestyle to maximize the mantra's benefits.
