Dhana Prapti Mantra

धन प्राप्ति मन्त्र
Also known as: Money Attainment, Wealth Acquisition, Dhana Prapti

About

The Dhana Prapti Mantra is a sacred invocation for the attainment of wealth, money, and material resources. Its textual origins are found in the Lakshmi Tantra, a Vaishnava Agama text that details the worship of Goddess Lakshmi, and the Kubera Tantra, which focuses on Lord Kubera, the treasurer of the gods. The mantra is primarily associated with both Lakshmi, the goddess of abundance, and Kubera, the lord of wealth. The beej-akshara (seed syllable) 'Shreem' is central to this mantra, representing the bija of Lakshmi and signifying prosperity, beauty, and auspiciousness. According to the Lakshmi Tantra, the sound 'Shreem' is composed of the phonemes 'Sh' (the divine mother), 'R' (fire or energy), and 'Eem' (the creative power), together invoking the flow of wealth. The mantra is traditionally chanted for quick acquisition of wealth, financial windfalls, and the removal of poverty. The Lakshmi Tantra prescribes its use for overcoming financial obstacles and attracting abundance, while the Kubera Tantra recommends it for gaining control over material resources and treasures. For optimal results, the mantra should be chanted 108 times daily, preferably during the morning after bathing, facing east or north. Special significance is given to chanting on Fridays, during Dhanteras, and on Akshaya Tritiya, as these are considered highly auspicious for wealth-related practices. The ritual setting may include a clean altar with an image of Lakshmi or Kubera, offerings of red flowers, incense, and sweets. Some traditions recommend using a copper or silver vessel filled with rice and coins as a focus. Cautions: This mantra should be chanted with pure intentions and not for harming others or for unethical gains. It is advised to maintain cleanliness and mental focus during chanting. Over-reliance on the mantra without righteous effort is discouraged. The mantra is pan-Indian in worship and is widely used across various traditions.
