Lakshmi Kubera Mantra

लक्ष्मी कुबेर मन्त्र
Also known as: Lakshmi Kubera Samyukta Mantra, Dhana Lakshmi Kubera Mantra, Sampatti Mantra

About

The Lakshmi Kubera Mantra is a combined invocation of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Kubera, revered in Hindu dharma as the supreme bestowers of wealth and prosperity. This mantra is not found as a single verse in the Vedas but is synthesized from later tantric and puranic traditions. According to the Lakshmi Tantra, an Agama text dedicated to the goddess, Lakshmi is the embodiment of shri (divine fortune) and material abundance. The Kubera Tantra, a lesser-known scripture, details the worship of Kubera as the treasurer of the gods and lord of the yakshas. The Agamas, particularly the Shaiva and Vaishnava Agamas, prescribe combined worship of Lakshmi and Kubera for removing financial obstacles and ensuring steady wealth flow. The mantra typically includes the beej-aksharas (seed syllables) 'Shreem', 'Hreem', and 'Kleem'. 'Shreem' is the bija of Lakshmi, representing prosperity and radiance; 'Hreem' is associated with the heart and divine energy; 'Kleem' is the bija of attraction and desire. These syllables, when chanted together, are believed to align the practitioner's energy with the frequencies of abundance and material success. The traditional purpose of this mantra is to invoke both divine grace (Lakshmi) and material management (Kubera) for maximum financial abundance, business prosperity, and removal of poverty. It is recommended to chant this mantra 108 times daily, preferably during the morning or evening hours, facing east or north. Special chanting on Fridays, Dhanteras, and Diwali (Lakshmi Puja) is considered highly auspicious. The ritual setting should include a clean space, a picture or idol of Lakshmi and Kubera together, and offerings of lotus flowers, gold-colored items, or sweets. Cautions: This mantra should not be chanted with selfish or harmful intentions, as it is a sacred invocation. It is advised to maintain purity of body and mind, and to avoid chanting during impure states (e.g., after consuming non-vegetarian food or alcohol). The mantra is pan-Indian in worship, with no regional restrictions. Its iconography depicts Goddess Lakshmi seated on a lotus and Lord Kubera beside her, both showering gold coins, symbolizing the union of divine and material wealth.
