Samriddhi Mantra

समृद्धि मन्त्र
Also known as: Prosperity Mantra, Flourishing Mantra, Abundance Mantra

About

The Samriddhi Mantra is a sacred invocation for comprehensive prosperity, encompassing material wealth, spiritual growth, and emotional fulfillment. The term 'Samriddhi' (समृद्धि) in Sanskrit denotes flourishing, abundance, and success in all endeavors. This mantra is primarily associated with Goddess Lakshmi, the deity of wealth and prosperity, and also with Kubera, the treasurer of the gods. The primary mantra, 'Om Shreem Hreem Samriddhim Kuru Kuru Swaha', combines the powerful bija (seed) syllables 'Shreem' and 'Hreem'. 'Shreem' is the bija of Lakshmi, representing abundance and grace, while 'Hreem' is the bija of the divine feminine energy (Shakti), invoking transformation and manifestation. The repetition of 'Kuru Kuru' means 'do, do', urging the swift fulfillment of prosperity. According to the Lakshmi Tantra, a Pancharatra text, the chanting of Lakshmi bija mantras with devotion bestows both material and spiritual wealth. The Puranas, such as the Skanda Purana, extol the virtues of invoking Lakshmi during auspicious times like Diwali and Akshaya Tritiya for enduring prosperity. The mantra is traditionally chanted 108 times daily, preferably in the morning after bathing, facing east or north. It is especially recommended during the festivals of Diwali, Dhanteras, and Akshaya Tritiya, when the cosmic energies are aligned for abundance. Ritual setting includes a clean altar with an image of Lakshmi, offerings of lotus flowers, rice, and gold-colored items. The mantra may also be recited during Kubera puja for financial stability. No specific cautions are mentioned in scriptures, but it is advised to maintain purity of mind and body, and to avoid chanting during impure states. The mantra's purpose is to remove obstacles to prosperity, attract wealth, and foster a sense of fulfillment in all aspects of life. As per the Mantra Mahodadhi, bija mantras like 'Shreem' should be received from a guru for maximum efficacy. The Samriddhi Mantra thus serves as a powerful tool for holistic abundance, aligning the practitioner with the divine energies of Lakshmi and Kubera.
