Sampada Prapti Mantra

सम्पदा प्राप्ति मन्त्र
Also known as: Sampada Prapti, Wealth Attainment, Prosperity Gain
§ 01
Origin & Tradition

About this mantra

The Sampada Prapti Mantra is a sacred invocation for the attainment of sampada—wealth, prosperity, and assets in all forms. Its textual origin is traced to the Lakshmi Tantra, a Pancharatra text dedicated to the goddess Lakshmi, where it appears as a means to invoke her grace for material and spiritual abundance. The mantra is also referenced in the Kubera Tantra, a scripture focusing on the god of wealth, Kubera, who is traditionally associated with the guardianship of treasures and the bestowal of riches. The primary deity of this mantra is Lakshmi, the goddess of fortune, and secondarily Kubera, the lord of wealth. Together, they represent the dual aspects of prosperity: Lakshmi bestows grace and abundance, while Kubera governs the accumulation and protection of material assets.

The mantra does not contain a specific beej-akshara (seed syllable) but is structured as a simple invocation: 'Om Sampada Pradayai Namah' (salutations to the giver of wealth). The phoneme 'Sam' evokes completeness and unity, 'pada' means foot or attainment, and 'pradayai' means bestower, collectively signifying the one who grants full prosperity. According to the Lakshmi Tantra, chanting this mantra with devotion brings the blessings of Lakshmi, leading to the acquisition of wealth, removal of poverty, and fulfillment of desires. The Kubera Tantra adds that it also attracts hidden treasures and ensures financial stability. Traditional purpose includes not only material wealth but also prosperity in relationships, health, and spiritual growth.

Recommended chanting context: ideally recited during the bright fortnight (shukla paksha), especially on Fridays, at dawn or dusk, facing east or north. A count of 108 repetitions per session using a rosary (japa mala) is prescribed. The ritual setting should include a clean space, an image or yantra of Lakshmi or Kubera, and offerings of flowers, incense, and sweets. Cautions: the mantra should be chanted with pure intentions; greed or misuse of wealth may lead to adverse effects. It is advised to perform the japa after a bath and to maintain mental focus.

The mantra is especially recommended during festivals like Dhanteras and Akshaya Tritiya, which are considered auspicious for wealth-related practices. This mantra is worshiped pan-India and is suitable for all seekers of prosperity.
